Road to Indy through Lincoln
After gutting out a 23-9 victory over a Denard Robinson-less Wolverines squad, the Huskers can get to the conference championship by winning the rest of their games. They should be considered favorites in the final four games in November. And most consider them the team to beat.

This significant win put the Huskers back into the spotlight, and back into the polls.
After their 23-9 win over Michigan yesterday...#Huskers reenter the @usatodaysports Coaches Poll at No. 21 released this morning. #GBR

It was because of the play of the defense (both with and without Robinson facing them) that the team was able to come away successful.
Michigan's offense had just 52 yards and three interceptions on 24 plays in the second half against Nebraska. #Huskers

The work this past week paid off, especially in the area of takeaways.
Sick of dropping picks, #Husker players and coaches did 10 push-ups after each drop in practices this week. Worked. NU had 3 picks tonight.

Bo Pelini wanted to give the Husker defense their blackshirts last Saturday after defeating Northwestern, but the team decided they did not quite yet deserve them. It was only after beating Michigan were the jerseys hanging in their lockers.
Bo Pelini's handling of Blackshirts paid off Saturday. Players clearly see the jerseys as a reward. It motivated them, and you see results.

I was sure the line would favor the Huskers v. Mich St. but not so far…. What do the folks in Vegas know that we do not? Road blues? Injury (TM or Rex)? Weather? Curse of giving out the Black Shirts?

Curse of the Blackshirts: Look at what happened last year after we beat Sparty (at this very same time last year); we fell to NW the next week (which is what I think is holding us back on the line).

I don’t think that’s going to happen this year. They know that if it does, we’ll come unglued. I think they play well for the rest of the season, just going by what they did Saturday night. They were focused. That’s why I don’t think Michigan would have won if Robinson had stayed in the game…they only had 6 points going tinto half time.
We are the team to beat. In our division. MSU is 4 -4. They have no offense, or at least very little. We beat them in every offensive catagory and the only defensive catagory were way behind is rushing D and we certainly can handle theirs.
Our tuffest games are behind us.
I was amazed Pelini didn’t have more than 4 guys up front to contain Dennard though…I thought the way to do it was pressure?

This upcoming game against Mich-State will be more difficult than people think. It will be a tough, nail biting type of game in my opinion as I think both offenses will struggle to score points. Which offense doesn’t turn the ball over will be the deciding factor.

As a Michigan fan I obviously would have hoped for a different outcome Saturday but hats off to the Huskers as they were the better team and definitely deserving of the win. While I see them having the best shot at the championship game, they cannot overlook a underachieving MSU. They haven’t played near as well as they should have this year but that defense is still talented enough to keep them in games and if the offense finally matures and gains some momentum they could be a rough matchup.

Sparty showed some signs of improvement last week & was able to win in overtime. Their defense is pretty good!
Only favoring Sparty by 1 point at home is trying to get more betting on the game.
Nebraska hasn’t played their best game on the road, but this may be the week they do so big time. Don’t think there will be a “let down” this week.

I thought that the Huskers might have been even going into this game because Michigan State likes to keep things close. Here are the margins in each of their conference games:, -1, +4, -3, -2, +3. By far, the Huskers should be the best offense they’ve faced. The Spartans are averaging 17.8 in the conference games and holding opponents to an average of 17.6. The Huskers aren’t doing as well in the conference game department… averaging 30, but allowing an average of 31.75.

Do not underestimate the power of 1.
MSU has never defeated Nebraska…ever.
We are 6 - 0 against them. They have never
come within 2 touch downs of victory against
us. If this MSU team pulls it off, they will have
done something that no other Spartan team
has ever done before. Defeated Big Red.
Stay focused. Stay healthy, stay ready.
May the players be hurt but not injured
May the officiating be fair.
May the best team win.
