The Weekly Buzz

This week's buzz was hard to narrow down to O-Line, physical play, the scrimmage, and the strange wrestling news. We're getting so close that it's hard to pick just a few items, but these things stuck out.

» The offensive line is impressing all around with it's depth, attitude, and ability to push the defense around. The buzz indicates that this unit may be the strength of the team with a shot at being one of the best in the Big 12. Ricky Henry is also getting recognition for pressuring Huff at the left guard position. This is great news. There will always be someone hurting at the line, and to be two deep is almost necessary in such a tough conference.

» Assistant Athletic Director of Football Jeff Jamrog is crazy. Crazy like a fox. He is trying to schedule BCS teams for the Husker's non conference opponents. Can you say swagger? It's almost a little cocky. Bo Pelini sure has got a lot of guys believing that this year is just the beginning of some long term success at Nebraska. I've got no problem with Mountain West, WAC, and MAC teams, but LSU? Ohio State? Wisconsin? Florida? Michigan? Miami? Wow. Can't wait for the 1 and 1 series there. Can you imagine downtown Lincoln on a fall day afternoon of hosting Ohio State? We all know what the city was like when USC came to town, that atmosphere is unforgettable.

» The Husker Scrimmage was apparently rough enough that they won't do it again for a couple days. The scrimmage was critical for preparing the team for this year's play clock changes. They're currently playing through soreness, some nicks, and bruises. There is nothing like scrimmaging in full pads to prepare a team for the rigors of a real game. Pelini is hopefully pushing the team just hard enough to get them ready without wearing them out.

» Ok, so this is one of the strangest things I've heard come out of Nebraska sports. Wrestlers posing nude. Ok, I don't even know what else to say. Can anyone else remember something so weird happening to Husker student athletes?
