The Weekly Buzz

Now that we're in our full week of real college football, we're finally getting some juicy stories coming out of the woodwork. This week has got our coaches being pretty open with their feelings about how the Huskers played this weekend. We also were able to see a boatload of young players hit the field for the first time as Huskers. I'm guessing some of those young guys were the inspiration needed to convince a couple of recruits that they want to be playing in front of the Sea of Red instead of anywhere else.

Bo Pelini and Shawn Watson not pleased » Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson had only one word for the week, and that word was tempo. Watson insinuated that Lee's tempo will be what drives this team down the field to score this year. As for the defense, Pelini's word was soft. Ndamukong Suh basically said Coach Pelini is the only person in the world that's allow to say that he's soft, so keep that in mind if you ever bump into the guy.

The future is bright » As Cody Green and Rex Burkhead make their debuts, they are getting rave reviews from everyone across the state of Nebraska. These guys have shown a maturity level in their comments and action on the field that Husker fans probably haven't seen in a while, including one very important fan. Not to be outdone, the young linebackers are getting some press as well, including Sean Fisher, who has been kind of outside the limelight with Will Compton and Blake Lawrence having their names in the paper.

Huskers up to eight commits » A three-star defensive end from Louisiana, Walker Ashburn comes from the same school as P.J. Smith. His verbal comes just days after Defensive Back Harvey Jackson of Missouri City, TX decides on Nebraska. And on the same day as Ashburn, another DB, Ciante Evans from Arlington, TX put in his verbal commitment. Now let's just hold onto these guys long enough to see them on the field.
