The Best of Big Red Network 2006

2006 was a banner year for the Big Red Network. OK, it was our only year (we launched in April), but the reception we received from Husker fans (and haters) has been tremendous. Now that the season is behind us, we thought it would be appropriate to pause and take a look back at the past year.

So, please indulge us in our navel gazing and read on for a recap of our most popular stories from 2006.

Original writing since 2006

When we started publishing in April, one of our goals was to write something original about Husker sports at least once a day. We surpassed that goal writing 349 stories in 2006. That's an average of two new things for you to read every-single-day!

Letters, we get letters

Of course, if we're writing crap, it doesn't matter how often we post new material. That's why we're so interested in how often you folks join the conversation in the comments. To date, we've received over 800 comments and we couldn't be happier.

We don't claim to know everything. We want to know what you think. So, please keep the comments coming.

Hot Topics

We like to think that all of our stuff is pretty darn good. (That's what our moms tell us anyway.) But a few stories really caught fire. Here were the ten most read stories from 2006:

10. The Folly Of Following Recruiting

9. Sizing Up Auburn

8. Photos of the new Husker Football Truck

7. Did You Drink The Kool Aid?

6. Kansas State Head Coach Changes Name

5. At Last - Nebraska Vs. Oklahoma

4. Bomar Out at OU

3. The Big XII After Ten Years: Winners and Losers

2. Freakonomics For College Football

1. “Mobile Home Key Words at Texas A&M

Etc. Etc.

As the year progressed, we also experimented with a few new offerings.

Phew. It has been a busy year! And we have a lot more in store for 2007.

What do you want?

Enough of us patting ourselves on the back. Now it's your turn.

How did we do this year? What is your favorite story from 2006? What should we do differently?

Without a doubt, one of my favorite articles is the Q&A with quality bloggers from the weeks’ opposing team.  It’s always wonderful insight into how to better view the match-up.

Thanks again, BRN!

Thanks Nick! We love doing those Q&A’s as well.

Although, Darren is pretty sure that it puts a jinx on the team. We’re 1-3 when we do a Q&A with the opposing team bloggers.

We’ll keep doing them if you keep reading them!

You guys deserve a pat on the back.  Will keep watching for new postings.
