HUSKER UP: Baylor (Or: Success is a Choice)
The Baylor Bears come to town to face the 4-3 Huskers. Suddenly, things are looking up for NU. They have played well in their last two games and still hope to make some noise in the Big 12. But, that won't mean a hill of beans if they drop Saturday's game to Baylor. So, it's time to HUSKER UP. For motivation, we turn to NU's coach, a sneaky good opponent and (gasp!) recent highlights.
Success is a Choice!
Bo Pelini may be a bit truculent with the media at times (Yes, that is a real word. Look it up.) I'd hate to be on the other end of one of those "What do you think?" responses he gives. But, this week he demonstrated the ability to wax philosophic. Here is a great quote from Coach Bo, applicable to any vocation or endeavor.
"It's been said a lot of times, success is a choice. You make that choice every time you wake up in the morning. What are you going to get out of that day?"
Pelini will often use famous quotes from people in all walks of life to help motivate his players. Folks, that is a quote from a football coach that is applicable to just about anyone. Choose to be great, Husker fans.
Beware the Bears...
Folks, I've tried to warn you. Baylor is for real, son. Or they are at least real enough to give NU plenty to deal with on Saturday. If you don't believe me, consider that Coach Bo has said it. And, that Baylor Coach Art Briles thinks his team can play with anyone. They have a quarterback, a linebacker and safety that are all potential awards candidates.
Here's a number for you - zero. The Baylor quarterback has zero interceptions in 155 attempts. The Bears are not planning to give this game away. The Huskers must TAKE it from them.
If you are going to the game, you must be loud! We can't expect our team not to sleepwalk if our fans are caught sleep walking, too. Sure, it's early. But HUSKER UP and put something in that coffee if you have to. Every win matters this season, and the Husker need you.
AV Club Presents...Iowa State Highlights
Last week, we got to see a fairly dominent Husker Big 12 win for the first time in what feels like forever. How nice was it to watch a game and not be scared to death for the second half? It feels even nicer to be able to offer up a highlight reel that isn't from the 1990's. Behold....
Now, the Huskers need to go out and play even better this Saturday!
Hit it Band
Okay, here is to hoping we hear the fight song early and often on Saturday. Hit it, band!
