How to Listen to Husker Games on Your iPhone
Editor's Note: This is a guest post from BRN reader Matt Duxbury. Check out his airline dispatch blog at flyerist.com. Let's hope he doesn't listen to Husker games while he's working.
From the first game this season, I was convinced that I could get my iPhone to stream Nebraska football games. After a little poking around, I found a way.
Here’s how to stream Nebraska football games on your iPhone.
1. Download Pocket Tunes (iTunes Link), now on sale for $7.99
2. Pocket Tunes has its own web browser, and by clicking on media links from within that browser, you can stream them. This also applies to Windows Media formats.
3. Using the Pocket Tunes browser, visit this site. This is a listing of all radio stations that stream Nebraska football games. Unfortunately, the larger stations are flash-based, so they are out. I have had the best luck with streaming KLIQ from Hastings or KKNW from Seattle. You can then bookmark these stations, and listen to them on game day.
Thanks Matt for your guest post. If you're interested in contributing to BRN contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Update: Some readers have had success streaming the games without buying that app. Read the comments for details.

KKNW Seattle works the best in Linux also. Last year the guy doing the intermediate thanks to sponsors would over emphasize the word “Nebraska” so we laughed a lot. This year he toned down the emphasis a little.

This is great! Many thanks. I’ve been looking for a way to do this. I almost got Sirius/XM but now perhaps I don’t have to.

Maybe this is a silly question but would this also work on the I pod touch? I only ask because I have been thinking about picking one up,and this would be a perfect reason to get one. Thanks for the help.

I listened to the FAU game on my Blackberry Storm with moodio.fm and it worked fantastic
Omaha, NE

Aaron,
I think it would work on the iPod touch as long as you were connected to a wireless network.

No freaking way…. I looked all over on how to do this, but I was told by the guys at huskers.com that the radio stations that do online streaming weren’t allowed to stream the games.

The WunderRadio application can do this also. I listen to Unsportsmanlike Conduct w/ Kevin Kugler and Mik’ell Severe everyday on my way home from work instead of the idiot radio guys here in KC. Best app ever!

You can hit the KKNW mp3e stream here w/o an additional download

Verified on my iPhone 3GS. We’ll find out at 1pm CST today if they’re streaming the game.
The Web site claims that they’re broadcasting the games, but not sure about online. KLIQ states on their streaming page that they will NOT be streaming the games.

It’s 1230pm on Saturday, and KLIQ and KKNW are both streaming the game, I’m listening to Pocket Tunes now and they both work. Let’s hope the stream continues.

works for regular linux comps, too—since the official husker site sucks horribly

Been listening to KKNW w/o a problem.

I’m using WunderRadio to stream KBBN (Broken Bow), no problems so far

Which station do you listen on on moodio.fm? Got a Blackberry Pearl I’d like to listen on.
Thanks

my ooTunes Radio app can also do this, and if there’s a station missing, just send me a request and I’m more than happy to add it.

Save your money on ANY apps, most just parse MP3 streams that mobile safari will play anyway. Most online audio has moved to Flash or Silverlight streaming technology which can’t be accessed by the iPhone w/o a jailbreak.
