Big 12 Recruiting Roundup:  Oklahoma State

The Cowboys are another conference team that surpassed Nebraska in the Rivals.com rankings (#27 vs. #30) but lagged the Huskers in the Scout.com rankings (#40 vs. #21). Like Nebraska, OSU signed a large class but with eight junior college players in the mix, the Cowboys were downgraded by Scout.

Oklahoma State had some star power in its class with seven four-star athletes including Dallas linebacker Alfred Dupree, juco cornerback Marcus Gray, juco running back Beau Johnson, Waco safety Victor Johnson, Texas receiver Markelle Martin, juco defensive tackle Swanson Miller, and Oklahoma safety Kye Staley. There were also a handful of two-star players in the class, but they were taken early enough that you'd believe the staff was comfortable that they were scholarship-worthy.

All-in-all OSU put together another middling class by Big 12 standards from a program that's been finishing somewhere in the middle of the conference standings. Nothing to get too excited over or too down about. It doesn't look like the type that would break the hold on the South division that OU and Texas has had for the past nine years, but it's very competitive with the North.

I think OK State has it right.  Just get a slightly better than average class with a few stars sprinkled in every year.  One of these years, you’re bound to have an explosion of talent due to the planets aligning or winning 10 games.  If you can just get one of those break outs to happen sooner, you’d be in good shape.
