  • RE: Conversation with a Wildcat
@Fritz, I think our moms were our first readers (and possibly only readers for a while). But yeah, you are a regular around here. We all yell, "Fritz!" when you walk in the door. Cheers-style. Seriously though, thanks. We appreciate it.

  • RE: First Item for Beebe on the Agenda: Complain About Nebraska
Also, bonus points for referring to yourself in third person, Dan. "The conference is bigger than Dan Beebe."

  • RE: First Item for Beebe on the Agenda: Complain About Nebraska
Did Beebe provide any updates on the death threat investigation? I'd think they'd have an indictment by now. Or should we expect to see it on an episode of Cold Case 20 years from now?

  • RE: Video: Pelini post-game press conference (with fireworks)
@Greg, Brandon was in the room. He said the golf clap at the end was by families of the players and coaches. They also applauded after Martinez's interview.

  • RE: Huskers Roll Out the Red Carpet for Recruits
At halftime I was thinking, "Oh, no. All those recruits!" After the game I was thinking, "Oh yeah! All those recruits!"

  • RE: Rivalry Crowdsourcing
You just wrote the opening montage for ABC. You're welcome Musburger.

  • RE: Rivalry Crowdsourcing
The Corn Bowl has a nice ring to it that I think will overcome any additional coolness factor from the pitchfork. Can't you just hear Bret Musburger saying: "Welcome to the inaugural Corn Bowl, folks. These two states are known for their corn production off the field as much as their …more »

  • RE: Game Day Pocket Guide for Fresno State
@jkil Good catch. I'm not sure why he wasn't on there. I added him for next week.

  • RE: Game Day Pocket Guide for Fresno State
@dbailey Try clearing your browser's cache or restarting your browser. It's probably just saving the old one. Annoying, I know.

  • RE: Game Day Pocket Guide for Fresno State
Thanks Adam. The sophomoric humor was mostly for my own benefit, but I'm glad it gave you a chuckle too.

  • RE: Game Day Pocket Guide for Fresno State
Doh. Thanks for the heads up. I fixed that.

  • RE: Final Final Sports Pub
This bar is tucked up next to the scenic Presidio. You should be able to find street parking near by. It's owned by a Nebraska native. You'll find lots of friendly faces there. Just eat before the game. They don't offer food except for frozen pizza.

  • RE: Beckett’s Public House
A classy joint with good bar food. There aren't a lot of good places to stand during the game, so get there early to find a table. It'll fill up.

  • RE: Kirkwood
A nice, newer bar in a nice Chicago neighborhood. They have good bar food and plenty of TVs. It gets packed on game days though, so plan to be there at least an hour before game time or be prepared to stand.

  • RE: Get Ready to Gear Up with Big Red Network
Hi Jeff, Thanks for those links. I updated our records. It's hard to stay on top of all of the changes around the countries, so I appreciate you helping us out.

  • RE: See a Sneak Peek of our 2011 Nebraska Football Field Guide
Hi Tim. Good idea. It has crossed my mind to make this an app. I'll see what I can do with less than a month till kickoff. Appreciate the support.

  • RE: Bizarre Tweet Leads to Pelini Statement on Starling
@krny hskr, nice catch. It's on my todo list.

  • RE: Get Ready to Gear Up with Big Red Network
OK folks. The store is open for business! Go to store.bigrednetwork.com or click the Store link up on the main nav. Email me at jason@bigrednetwork.com if you have any thoughts or questions. I'd love to hear your feedback.

  • RE: Get Ready to Gear Up with Big Red Network
Hang tight. We're still working out the details. The store should be up later today. I'll post again when we're open for business. Appreciate the eagerness.

  • RE: Get Ready to Gear Up with Big Red Network
Thanks Dywane! It's a little scary creating a new product like this. It's a big relief to know we'll sell at least one. :)

  • RE: Handicapping the Spring Game
@OU7Times, I didn't hear about the new TV contract. That's good news for the Big 12. Had I read it, I probably wouldn't have linked it here for the simple fact that we are a Nebraska site and NU isn't in the Big 12 any more. (Haven't you heard? :) But, …more »

  • RE: Video: Learn to dance like Rex Burkhead
Darn, it looks like they took the video down after we posted this. Sorry about that folks. For what it's worth, the video appeared to be for a school project where they had to do an instructional video. Rex taught you his sweet touchdown dance moves step-by-step. Let's just say if …more »

  • RE: 2011 Husker Recruiting Class Breakdown
@Jamie Good catch. He did indeed commit. I added him. He wasn't on the list when we first published this.

  • RE: Point: A New and Changing Neighborhood
Thanks guys! We're happy to write about the Huskers every day as long as folks like you keep coming back to read and carry on reasonable discussions.

  • RE: Pelini a candidate in Miami?
Should we post "rumors" like this in the future? I'm as annoyed at the next guy at the crazy rumors that catch fire so easily on the internet. Believe me, there are a lot of crazy theories and rumors that we don't post. But in this case the Miami Herald reported …more »

  • RE: One Last Sooner-Husker Contest Feels So Right
I can't find the source at the moment, but I read in the paper that an "all star" team will be officiating the championship game and that we haven't had anyone in that crew yet this year.

  • RE: 12th Man Wears Zebra Stripes as Texas A&M Gets Win Over Nebraska
Read Bo Pelini's comments from today's press conference before jumping to more conclusions.

  • RE: Quotes from Bo Pelini's press conference
@Bill For what it's worth, Pelini said the league usually responds to officiating reviews. They just haven't responded yet.

  • RE: 12th Man Wears Zebra Stripes as Texas A&M Gets Win Over Nebraska
@Stang you're right. There are places all over the internet that allow name calling and baseless accusations. Go find one. Come back tomorrow if you want to have a cordial discussion after everyone has had a chance to cool down. And for the record, I deleted a few comments from Husker …more »

  • RE: 12th Man Wears Zebra Stripes as Texas A&M Gets Win Over Nebraska
Relax Stang. I deleted some of your comments because you weren't adding to the discussion, just stirring up trouble. I linked to the story of the Aggie cameraman's allegations on our home page.

  • RE: 12th Man Wears Zebra Stripes as Texas A&M Gets Win Over Nebraska
I realize emotions are running a little high and people want to vent right now. But, try to keep it constructive. Name calling and blatant trolling will be deleted.

  • RE: 12th Man Wears Zebra Stripes as Texas A&M Gets Win Over Nebraska
For what it's worth, this is why Ben Cotton got flagged twice on one play.

  • RE: ABC Coverage Map for Nebraska at Texas A&M 2010
I'm not sure there is one for this game, but don't quote me.

  • RE: Video: Suh attempts to kick an extra point
The Lions kicker was hurt. After the game, the Lions coach confirmed that Suh is their "emergency kicker" because of his soccer background. Apparently, he makes them in practice.

  • RE: Huskers Squander Two Touchdown Lead, Beat Iowa State in Overtime
If you only read these comments you'd think NU lost the game. Granted, it was u.g.l.y. and there are a lot of things to question. But in this league, a win is a win. By the way, was this Paul Rhoads '84 Orange Bowl? I loved that call to go for …more »

  • RE: You Make The Call
@Troy, we covered the kickoff issue here. Shame on you for not reading BRN every day. :)

  • RE: You Make The Call
@Carol, good point. I copy/pasted the rules about this situation to the bottom of the post. Keep in mind the Big 12 hasn't ruled on this play one way or the other (and chances are they won't).

  • RE: You Make The Call
Pelini just said, "It was a good hit. The Big 12's going to do what they have to do, I don't know. I can't control that." It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If another suspension is handed out, I'd also like to hear how the league is …more »

  • RE: You Make The Call
This just in: Pinkel is asking the Big 12 to review the hit. Personally, I wouldn't mind it if the league suspends a NU player every week for the rest of the season. It will just add fuel to the "us against the world" fire that seems to get this team …more »

  • RE: Mailbag: Why did Nebraska kick off twice?
The other option a team has is to pick which side they want to defend. So after winning the toss, your choices are: kick, receive, defend a side, or defer your decision till the second half. Picking a side may come into play when the weather is really bad, but you …more »

  • RE: Too Soon for Martinez Heisman Talk
@Dan TrueBlue, good find. Obviously, m-go-readers drink their own brand of blue kool-aid, but I like reading outside perspectives on these things too.

  • RE: Where to have breakfast in Lincoln before a Husker game
@Nathan, if you want the game day experience, head down to Barry's near the stadium. There are a handful of other bars nearby in the Haymarket that will be packed with fans. Then after the game go over to the Embassy Suites "rockin the dock" outdoor beer garden. They'll have a …more »

  • RE: Never forget.
Don't confuse bitterness with anger. I think most Husker Fans agree the refs got the last call right. But we're angry about that game. We're angry that we hung that close with a team that most thought we had no chance against, only to see it slip away in the last …more »

  • RE: Husker Watch Site Profile: Raleigh, NC

Thanks for all the feedback folks. You should be able to reset your password now. If you still have trouble, let me know. Also, I removed one of the ads from the stream of latest stories on the home page. That cuts down on some of the clutter there. We'll keep …more »

  • RE: A quick tour of the new Big Red Network
Valid points Isaac. We tinkered with that layout for quite a while to get it right and I don't think we're there yet. The idea was to mix all of our in-house feature stories with smaller snippets and links that we find elsewhere into one stream. I was hoping that it …more »

  • RE: A quick tour of the new Big Red Network
@omarhuskerfan I hear that. Unfortunately, our resident meteorologist had to retire so he could focus on his new business. If you know anyone that we should try out, send them my way.

  • RE: A quick tour of the new Big Red Network
Thanks @bnahusker. We're constantly trying to balance the site to keep our trademark clean design but pay the bills. Call us out if you think we go too far one way or the other. @nebrascal I emailed you to help figure out your password issue.

  • RE: A quick tour of the new Big Red Network
@Gary, good eye. The schedules are correct now. It was an issue with a server setting. @nebrascal The login form should be fixed now. Appreciate you all bearing with us as we sort out the kinks.

  • RE: Ndamukong Suh: Gettin' Paid
Yeah, it was time for the big guy to sign. Even his teammate (and fellow former Husker) Dominic Raiola said, "Sign the damn contract. Get in here. You’ve missed some good things in practice." Can't wait to watch him on Sundays.

  • RE: Mack Brown Media Days
@mulliganville Weather is part of the game. Bowls are mostly played in warm weather cities because they want to attract tourists. If there was a dome in Omaha, you're saying Texas fans would be fine with the championship game being hosted there permanently? Darn, if only we had more time to …more »

  • RE: Mack Brown Media Days
@horn101 Unequal revenue distribution and permanently moving the championship game to Dallas are the reasons most NU fans point to. I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting at the moment. I can't speak to why other teams (especially North teams) went along with those decisions. I'd love to hear their …more »

  • RE: Mack Brown Media Days
@edjayhawk I agree that NU put a lot of pressure on themselves to win the UT game, but I don't think the season hangs on that one game. The staff's challenge will be to keep the players focused on the next game without looking ahead. Luckily, Bo is pretty good at …more »

  • RE: Don't Mess with Texas? Nebraska Will Take its Chances
Please, for the love of sweet baby Jesus. Stop the bickering. OU7, I appreciated your contributions more in the past when they were on topic. Now, it's just a tired act. The rest of you, please ignore the trolls. Now that Darren has broken his precious record I'm going to start …more »

  • RE: Your NCAA Football 11 Nebraska Cornhuskers
    Sam Keller is not amused.

  • RE: Don't Mess with Texas? Nebraska Will Take its Chances
Honestly, this story has nothing to do with Oklahoma, Johnny Rodgers, Mike Stoops or F'ing Hillbillies. There are lots of open forums where you can discuss all of those topics (and more!) But, let's keep this discussion on the topic at hand and dispense with the petty personal jabs.

  • RE: Iowa State, Kansas State Players Named to Rivals "All-Losers" Team
Well, this thread degraded quickly. Let's check the name calling at the door and have a civilized discussion. Or take a break and go for a walk. It's Friday.

Our Twitter friend @noyzsource pointed out that Iowa has their own Hawkeye Express Train. But, I'm sure we could make ours cooler. :)

  • RE: All aboard the Husker Express?
I love this idea! Maybe the double-decker Husker bus can pick fans up from the train station and drop them off at the stadium? Husker Max dug up this photo of the old Husker train

  • RE: Nebraska's Spring Game Turnout Second to None
Blah blah blah nothing else to do blah blah. Glad we got that inevitable comment out of the way early. I guess there's not much to do in Florida either since 50,000 fans showed up for their spring game. And by that same reasoning the whole state of Oklahoma must have …more »

  • RE: White Team By Six
As I suspected, "Trojan" just stopped by to stir up trouble. He posted under six different names on this post pretending to have a debate with himself. I deleted all of his comments. Carry on.

@Exiled_in_VT Excellent idea. I'll take Alex Henery. Who's your first pick? :)

  • RE: What Will We See Saturday?

Some people seem to be over-reacting a bit. I think Steve is just pointing out what the downsides might be to this scheme change. The sky is not falling. No mountains being made of mole hills. Just something for an educated fan to keep an eye on this season. That's my …more »

@stephen Sorry we're not living up to your expectations. I will refund your payment immediately. :) Did you read this article? I believe we were one of the first outlets to write about the change in the base defense.

  • RE: Return of "the Ved"?
@Dave, I think what Darren meant was that we don't ban people that disagree with us. In fact, I can only think of a couple people that we have banned in the last four years and they were blatantly stirring up trouble and making personal attacks. I only see two comments …more »

  • RE: Return of "the Ved"?
@saunders45 Yeah, that might be the most annoying ad in the history of annoying ads. I really apologize for that. I contacted our ad network and requested that they immediately remove that and any others like it. Sorry again for the annoyance.

  • RE: Spring Themes: Battle to Be the Backup
If I could give out gold stars for outstanding contributions, today it would go to @NDHuskerFan. Thanks for unemotionally expressing an opinion and backing it up with facts. You're welcome here any time.

  • RE: Could New Recruiting Rule Hurt Texas?
Simmer down Jimbo. Texas has their pick of the litter talent wise. We all get that. Care to offer any insight as to how this new rule might impact UT (if at all)?

  • RE: Restoring the Aura
Some of you may be new to our site. There are plenty of places that allow personal attacks and name calling, but this isn't one of them. We encourage thoughtful, polite discussion here. I deleted a handful of comments that weren't adding any value to our discussion. Carry on.

  • RE: Huskerpedia Down then Frozen
What a strange turn of events. The Pedia has been a great resource for Husker fans for a long time. I hope both parties get this sorted out quickly. Both sites are linking to this article now. So, welcome to the Huskerpedia readers who are discovering us for the first time. …more »

  • RE: Wait...I thought NU was just going to "listen"
I never really understood why people trot out academic standards when debating the merits of another school joining an athletic conference. I get that traditionally, Big 10 schools have relatively high academic standards. But, what *real* bearing does that have on their athletic teams? Every school has tutors, mentoring and educational …more »

  • RE: Suh's Heisman trip gives Nebraska one more shot at a big win
Good point Dwayne about early voters. This is the first year that they have used all-electronic Heisman voting. Voters could wait and see all of the games before voting online instead of having to mail in a ballot way before the deadline. That had to have benefitted Suh. So yeah. You …more »

  • RE: Suh's Heisman Pose
Heh, no. There were about 2 or 3 possible penalties at the end of that play, but none were flagged. But that is old news. Focus people. Suh could quite possibly win the Heisman! BTW, here's my current favorite joke from Twitter: If you vote for McCoy for Heisman, you need …more »

  • RE: Sorry South Texas Husker Fans
The San Antonio station (KSAT) is the only ABC affiliate in the country that opted out of showing the NU/CU game. Do a favor for your friends to the south and give the station a call and encourage them to reconsider.

  • RE: Nebraska and KU Provide Offense
Seriously duecer? You're calling for a coach to get fired after a win on the road when we're on track to win the division? Can't we enjoy this win, enjoy the rest of the season and save discussions about coaching changes for the off season?

  • RE: Did We Make it a Week?
Since KU fans seem willing to poke fun at their coach's girth, I don't feel so bad laughing at this shirt I saw last week at the OU game. http://bigrednetwork.com/archives/images/2009/11/IMG_1384.jpg

Heh, you noticed that huh? Pelini must not be big on depth charts because he hasn't released one since last week. So, instead of listing Burkhead as the #2 RB or randomly selecting someone else, I just left it blank. (Which is closer to the truth anyway. :)
